Our vision at Unfolded is simple. We chose a venue that was classic yet contemporary for the old and the young with options for clothing, home decor, locally made gifts & personal care. At Unfolded, we want grandmothers, mothers, daughters, & friends of all ages to be able to shop together and leave with something special!

About Missy…

Our grandmothers grew up during the Great depression knowing nothing but hard work and survival skills for their families. Arleane, my grandmother, started work in a St. Louis sewing factory in the 1930s during WWII while my grandfather served in the navy over seas. She continued her love for sewing throughout her lifetime, making bedding, curtains, mending, and most importantly creating clothing and dresses for herself (as seen in the photo), children, and grandchildren. I remember sitting with my grandma, at her one of many sewing tables, and feeling the excitement of picking out the patterns and colors for my special occasion dresses! Her dedication & talent remains throughout generations and plays a significant role to our boutique inspiration.

For over 10 years, I have been updating old furniture as a hobby, to use throughout our home for my three children. Eventually, I ran out of space so decided to sell a few pieces. It became an addiction! The character & uniqueness of old furniture is a quality that cannot be replaced. Once updated and brought back to life with a fresh new look, these pieces can be valued once again. My portfolio shows some of the favorite pieces from customers.

Tatum and I met after my family and I moved back to Sauk City, WI. from the east coast in 2017. We immediately became friends and quickly realized we share a significant amount of the same interests, antiquing, unique furniture finds, holiday shopping, and the desire to have our own brick & mortar. So, after four years of dreaming about it, we decided to go for it! With much help & support from our families, Tatum and I carefully put together our boutique containing our loves of clothing, antique refinished furniture, and home goods.

About Tatum…

Growing up I spent a lot of time with my grandma, Bea. One of our favorite things to do together was to go shopping. My grandma lived in Greenfield, WI. a suburb of Milwaukee. I would spend a week with her every summer and visit other times throughout the year. During my summer visits, my grandma would make me breakfast , we would get ready and head out to the mall. Some of our favorite stores to visit were Boston Store and Kohl’s before Kohl’s was the chain store we know today. It would not be unusual for us to go to several malls in one day, Southridge and Mayfair were a couple of her favorites. My grandmother loved looking at things, and so she wasn’t spending a lot of money, would often wait for those things to go on sale. It was such a treat to go downtown to Grand Ave Mall and to ride the escalators at the big department stores! My grandma was very a stylish lady and not afraid to do something that was probably a little outrageous in her day! She was the owner of her own store in Tomah, WI. from 1956-1963, Ladies Ready to Wear Shop. She would go to Market in Chicago to buy clothing for her store. This is something Missy and I recently did and it was so special to know I was following in her footsteps. One of my dreams, although I don’t think I realized until later in life, was to own my own store. I talked about it a lot in recent years, but in September, Missy and I had a conversation, which we’ve had several times before, about opening a store together in Sauk Prairie. The timing seemed right and we decided to move forward with this dream. I am so excited to begin this next chapter with Missy. I can’t help but think my grandma is smiling down on me and cheering us on as Missy and I begin this venture.
